Turath An Egyptian Heritage Co
Turath, meaning ’heritage’ in Arabic, aims to protect Egypt’s heritage through a variety of different handicrafts, while improving living and working conditions of workers, enhancing the quality of handmade products, and developing an awareness of the environment. With this in mind, Turath focuses on the weavers of Naqada, a small village in Upper Egypt just north of the city of Luxor. The hand looms used in Naqada today are traditional ones that have been handed down through generations since Pharaonic times.
