Details
This simple necklace consists of two navy blue flat irregular shaped tagua discs surrounded by hand cut and polished brass lengths that can slide along the silver-plated chain. Tagua is a seed from a type of palm tree that grows in the South American rainforests. Often known as vegetable ivory, tagua is an environmentally friendly alternative to animal ivory. The seed is hand carved, dyed and polished in Ecuador and the brass components are cut and polished in Peru, making this a truly international collaboration. These fair-trade projects provide financial security to otherwise disadvantaged communities. Brass may tarnish over time. To restore the original shine, clean it with Brasso and a soft cloth. Tagua may darken slightly over time, it can be buffed up with a soft white cotton cloth.
Approx chain length: 70cm.
